Crew Profile: Owen Hart

ATG is so very lucky to have hosted Owen Hart as a WWOOFer starting in early January!  He landed in Western NC all the way from DC with a goal to learn more about growing food and brought with him a great many talents as well as a creative outlook on living life.  This winter, we have tackled a list of projects that are intended to improve operations around the farm during the main growing season. One of those projects involved building a shelter for our small goat herd out on the pasture.  Goats really dislike getting wet, so a shelter would allow the goats to stay dry in a rain storm without running all the way back to the main barn (and demanding at least one crew member’s time and attention to let them through the gates) .

Owen jumped right in and built the whole thing single handed, and that’s why we’ve taken to calling it the “Owen Memorial Goat Shed”. Owen likes to remind us that he hasn’t left the farm yet, so the structure shouldn’t be a “memorial",” but when your a living legend things like that just happen!

In addition to his superior carpentry and easy going vibes we most appreciate that the he shows up everyday and gives his all for the work whatever wild thing that may be.  Owen has brought so much joy and we are so glad our paths crossed and look forward to staying in touch with wherever life takes you!
